Temperament

Taking on the strongest qualities of both the Poodle and the Maltese, the Maltipoo has a loving, affectionate and semi-mild temperament. They are loyal companions and seek attention and loving praise whenever they can get it. Though not aggressive by nature, they can react with a bark or a nip if provoked.

Training and Socialization

Their affection and loyalty to their owners makes training a much simpler task than that of many small dogs. They are eager to learn and just as eager to please. Positive reinforcement and a reward based system is perfect for the Maltipoo as they thrive on positive attention. Socializing this breed early is important to introduce them to other dogs and people. Without proper socialization they can develop small dog syndrome, which can cause problems in their adult years.

Appearance and Grooming

This breed with their hypoallergenic and low shedding coat, come in a mix of creams, whites and silver. They have a fluffy, soft and wool-like texture and their coat is medium to long in length varying from slightly wavy to curly. Regular weekly brushing and clipping of their coats once or twice a year is very important to maintain a clean healthy coat, though trimming around the eyes, muzzle and ears is recommended more often.
